What are basic requirements, such as equipment for installing Now TV service?
The installation address must be within the Now TV coverage area, a proprietary set top box needs to be provided by Now TV and you will need a TV with A/V input and 4-port ADSL mode.
Who will be responsible for delivering equipment to my premises?
Field service staff will deliver and install set top box and modem on your premises. For more details, please call Now TV Customer Service Hotline 1833 888.
How long will it take for installation after subscribing to Now TV service?
Installation is likely to take place about four days after subscribing, although delays can occur under exceptional circumstances.
Will I be able to watch Now TV in my living room but have my PC connected to the Internet in the bedroom?
Yes, you have two options:
- Use a long-enough LAN cable to connect your PC in the bedroom to our ADSL modem in the living room, or
- You can rent or purchase special equipment to enjoy Now TV without the hassle or tangle of wires. For more details, please call our sales hotline on 2888 0008 (then press 2) or visit a HKT shop, HKT Sales Counter or an authorized agent.
Can I have service LAN cable to install Now TV, if my PC is far away from my TV?
Yes, we will provide sufficient LAN cable, even if your PC is far away from your TV.
Service Provision
What is the activation key?
It consists of the first 4 digits of a registered customer’s HKID/passport number, which is used for first-time service activation.
Set top box replacement
I have received a letter asking me to replace my existing set top box. Why is this necessary?
Your existing set top box will soon be replaced by an upgraded model, which comes free, is smaller and supports Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) functionality. DTT channels can be viewed by using the Now TV remote control to enter DTT channel numbers. More interactive functions are in the pipeline to provide a variety of high-quality programs and a better interactive experience. If you have subscribed to HD service and are using a TV with an HDMI output, the HDMI output function of the new set top box facilitates higher-quality viewing of TV programs.
What do I need to take along in order to replace my set top box for an upgraded model?
Please take along the original copy of the letter, your identity document (if you are not the registered customer, please present a photocopy of the registered customer’s identity document. For corporate or business customer, please present a copy of your BRC and company chop), your existing set top box, remote control unit and power adaptor.
When will be the deadline for set top box replacement?
Please collect the box within two months after the mail date.
What should I do if I’m not available within two months after the mail date?
We suggest you authorize a representative to collect for you. He/she needs to take the original notification letter, a photocopy of your identity document, your existing set top box, remote control unit and power adaptor.
Why did my friend receive a redemption letter while I didn’t?
Only selected customers need replacement. You will receive a letter if you are one of those.
What will happen if I do not replace my set top box with an upgraded model?
If you do not replace your existing set top box within two months after the mail date, interactive functionality may be affected adversely at some point in the future.
