What is 4K resolution? And what's the difference between 4K Ultra HD and Full HD?
- 4K is an overarching term to describe visual resolution technology that offers more pixels than Full HD.
- 4K resolution is 3,840 x 2,160 and the number of pixels is four times that of Full HD, so picture quality is much better.
- 4K quality delivered by Now One and Now H1 is 4K Ultra HD (4K UHD), a much higher standard. As well as providing 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, it needs to comply with the HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 standards. HDMI 1.x only supports 4K@25/30Hz, but HDMI 2.0 supports up to 4K@ 50/60Hz, thereby improving picture quality for fast-motion video. HDCP 2.2 is a technology designed to prevent illegal copying of 4K UHD content. Now One and Now H1 are HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 certified.
Can I watch 4K titles if my TV does not support HDCP 2.2?
4K Ultra HD content from channels and VODs requires a copy protection standard called “HDCP 2.2”. In order to view this content in 4K Ultra HD, your Now One must be plugged into an “HDCP 2.2” compatible HDMI® port. Different TVs will have different configurations, and some will label the correct HDMI® port, but it’s a good idea to refer to your TV owner’s manual. Not all content requires HDCP 2.2, however, and you can enjoy some specific 4K Ultra HD content from Now TV channels and VODs without this restriction.
What TV models support HDCP 2.2?
You can check with your TV manufacturer if your 4K TV supports HDCP 2.2.
