In the 22nd century, after Earth is torn apart by a great war between militant atheists and a religious order of fanatics called the Mithraic which leaves the human race teetering on the edge of extinction, two androids - named Father and Mother - are tasked to re-start a new human civilisation. They raise human children to start a peaceful and godless colony of the human race on the planet Kepler-22b. But as the burgeoning colony of new humans threatens to be ripped apart once again by religious differences, the android parents learn that controlling the beliefs of humans on a mysterious planet is a very difficult and treacherous task.
